The Community Trust

Sandwich St. Mary's Community Trust was registered as a charity in 1997 and has made significant progress on improving facilities for the church's use as a venue for events.

The building is in the care of The Churches Conservation Trust (TCCT), a national body which overseas several hundred churches selected for their historic and architectural value.

SSMCT — in agreement with TCCT and other involved organisations — has raised funds to provide 300 new seats, new lighting, mobility ramp, storage/changing room, toilet and kitchen facilities.
A large demountable stage is in place (in conjunction with the Sandwich Festival Association).

Fully Operational Heating Project:

The heating system project is now Fully Operational which enables all year-round use.

Funding has come from various sources but the Friends of SSMCT have been stalwart supporters. New Friends are needed and are most welcome to be part of this exciting challenge for Sandwich.
